Walk - Paglesham 1

A lovely 5 mile circular walk that starts off at East End Paglesham and follows the sea wall along the river crouch with views of Burnham on Crouch and back through the small village of Church End Paglesham. Can enjoy a pub lunch after at the Plough and Sail (dogs allowed in bar or outside). (Keep an eye on our blog for another walk around Paglesham turning right at the sea wall)

Great for - dogs that like water (check tide times), dogs that don't like busy places as it is very quiet, a nice pub lunch at the end Not great for - Dogs that are interested in birds as there are some parts of the walk where dogs must be on lead for nesting birds, phone signal! Time: Approximately 3 hours

Parking -

There are a couple of different places you can park: Start 1 - There is a small public car park at the end of East Hall Road there is only room for about 6 cars here but it is often pretty empty. If you start at this carpark you start the route by going through the white gate infront of the big house (yes this is a public footpath) and down the side of the house, along the edge of the field and through the gate which will lead you to the path that the Plough and sail pub is on - waterside road - and turn left towards the boatyard.

Start 2 - If you are planning to have a drink or bite to each after your walk you can park at the Plough and Sail pub in their carpark - Eastend, Rochford SS4 2EQ - or the field opposite which has plenty of space. If you start here head down the side of the pub onto waterside road and turn right towards the boatyard.

Route -

After heading down waterside road walk to the end and through the boatyard then up the steps to the sea wall. Go left at the sea wall and walk along. You will pass a pill box and continue for quite some time along the sea wall. Theres a couple of gates and stiles along the way (some of these have the warnings about birds).

Keep going past another pill box and sluice. Eventually you will come to another sluice with the river going off to your left. Follow the river to the left and join the concrete path which will lead to the village. Head through the village right to the end, past the church and there is a small hidden footpath next to the house at the end. Follow the narrow path which will widen out and run along side the edge of a farm and barns. You will come out onto East hall road which is then a short walk back to the car parks.
